Porter will continue softball career at Pitt Johnstown

Olivia Porter, a member of Southmoreland’s girls soccer, basketball, and softball teams, as well as the football team, has decided to play softball at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.

The thought of having to decide which sport to play in college has troubled Porter because she is “passionate about every sport that I play.”
After having schools like Duquesne, Grove City, and St. Francis look at Porter for soccer, basketball, and softball, Porter made the decision to continue her softball career at UPJ.
From playing travel softball for 10-U and 12-U Nitro and guesting as a player on the 16U Renegades and 18U Synergy, Porter has been playing softball from the time she was 5 years old.
“Softball is just a competitive sport that’s easy to enjoy,” said Porter.
Porter decided on UPJ because she believes it is a better fit for her and will give her “more of a college experience.” Her parents and coaches helped her make his decision by weighing the pros and cons of each college she was considering.
“Knowing what I’m going to do now gives me something to be excited about,” said Porter. “It’s a big stress reliever.”
All of the extra hours at practice, blood, bruises, and late nights has paid off for Porter and she is happy to be pursuing something she has “always dreamed of.”
