Students eligible for Seton Hill scholarship award

Juniors, Kim Weinman, Morgan Conty, and Maria Schultheis have the opportunity not many juniors get. They are eligible to win a $76,000 scholarship to Seton Hill University in Greensburg to be awarded next year.
All three girls received the Women in Science Day award, but all for different subjects.
Weinman got the award for biology and was nominated by Mr. Michael Busato; Conty got it for math and was nominated by Mrs. Kim Kelley; and Schultheis got it for chemistry and was also nominated by Mr. Busato.
“The awards ceremony was really cool,” said Weinman. “The hall that it was in was decorated and there were so many people.”
The ceremony was in December at Seton Hill University. All the students were able to attend with their parents for the day and experience the festivities. They were given lab activities beforehand and then received lunch before the certificates were awarded.
“It felt amazing to receive the award,” said Conty. “Being that Seton Hill is one of the bigger colleges I am looking into makes it even better.”
There are a handful of guidelines that the recipients have to maintain in order to be eligible for the scholarship.
“We have to maintain a good GPA, and SAT score of 1170,” said Weinman.”But you have to have the award to be eligible for the scholarship.”
All the students are confident they can keep their grades and scores to where they remain eligible for the scholarship.
“It was so satisfying to know that I am getting recognition for working so hard in chemistry,” said Schultheis. “Now to have a substantial scholarship waiting for me after school is just an added bonus. ”
