Hixson steps down as varsity soccer coach

At the end of the soccer season, Mr. Chris Hixson sadly stepped down from coaching our boys’ soccer team.

The reason for me stepping down as a coach was so I could spend more time with my family,” said Mr. Hixson. “It just felt like it was the right time to step away so I could enjoy more time with my son and wife.”

Mr. Hixson has been contributing by coaching for many years now. He coached for about 11 months of the year. He has coached for the varsity program for 5 years and has been a coach for the district for 14 years.

For now, there is not a replacement coach to take Mr. Hixson’s place. The school will advertise the position and conduct interviews for the selection of the next coach.

“Me being there won’t really impact the team if they put the work into getting better.  Each player will have to make the individual choice to prepare their minds and body for what will be necessary to become a top team again,” said Mr. Hixson. “No matter who the coach is, that will be the first and most important step.  I trust the district will hire a coach to help the boys reach success.”

Mr Hixson plans to return to coaching sometime in the future, whenever that may be.
