Spreading sunshine back to Mrs. Hixson

While English teacher Mrs. Jenna Hixson, is on her medical leave, students are giving back in her time of need. Mr. Stephen Heberling, her substitute, is collecting donations to “spread a little sunshine” for her.

Mrs. Hixson has always given back to her students, so now it’s their turn to give back to her. Mr. Heberling is collecting cheery items that will make her smile.

Mrs. Hixson loves anything that can bring a smile to someone’s face, whether it be hers or the people she surrounds herself with. They are hoping to receive bright, sunny yellow gifts for her, books since she loves to read, and anything cozy to make her comfortable.

Mr. Michael Busato, his wife, Jennifer Busato, their daughter, Joselyn Busato, and Mrs. Sheri Zimmerman organized the idea into a physical donation. Mr. Heberling and science teacher Mrs. Marie Heberling were both very helpful in the setup of the boxes to collect the donations and with spreading the word as well.

Joselyn Busato, who relayed information between home and school and will be organizing the donations with her mother, feels that it is her privilege to have the opportunity to give back to such a wonderful person who has made such an impact on her life.

I think that a person like Mrs. Hixson definitely deserves to be showered with generosity, Jocelyn Busato said. “She has touched the lives of countless students and staff in the high school and beyond. Anyone who has benefited from her selfless personality will hopefully be moved to contribute.”

“It broke my heart to hear that she was facing this challenge, but I knew that she would continue to be an inspiration and retain her positive attitude even through this difficult time,” said Joselyn Busato, who feels that demonstrating to Mrs. Hixson how much she is loved and appreciated “will definitely boost her spirits.”

As of right now, there are only a few donations, but they are hoping for more. They want to fill that cardboard box to the brim. Anyone is welcome to donate in Mrs. Hixson’s room.
