Clock Work Angel

Dawn Hyrczyk and her daughters used to crank up the music and dance in the kitchen until they couldn’t stop laughing.
But goofing around is something that Hyrczyk can no longer do with one of her daughters, Sabrina Shipley, who was tragically killed in a car accident on November 17, 2010.
“I hope the story of Sabrina helps young drivers realize that they are not invincible,” said Dawn. “If I could save one mother from experiencing the pain that I face every day, it would help a lot.”
Hyrczyk, a grieving mother, wants people – especially teenagers – to realize the danger of driving without a seat belt.
In November 2010, Sabrina was killed in a tragic car accident that happened in the 3200- block of Route 981. Jillian Hyrczyk, Dawn’s step daughter, was also involved in the crash and had minor injuries. Both of the girls were not wearing seat belts when the Chevy Blazer rolled over on a curve.
Sabrina’s aunt, Amanda Lauffer, said Sabrina loved to change her hair style and paint her nails. Sabrina was involved in powder puff football and chorus when she was in high school.
“Sabrina was like a little sister to me,” said Lauffer.
But being like a little sister and being a sister are two completely different things.
Skyler Shipley was in 6th grade when Sabrina died in the car crash. On that day in 2010, Skyler lost her best friend and role model.
“Sabrina was a fun loving, beautiful girl, and the best sister I could have ever asked for,” said Skyler, “Life is miserable without her.”

October 18-October 24 is Celebrate My Drive week. Thursday (October 23) is Grim Reaper Day and with-in the school day 41 students will “die” in order to represent the number of teenagers that die every 8 hours due to dangerous decisions.
