“Always Happy” Scholarship

By mid-May 2015, there will be two “Always Happy” scholarships awarded in honor of the late Brendan “B” Walter, a 2014 graduate of Southmoreland High School.
In order to be eligible for this scholarship, a high school senior must be either a four year soccer player or a four year hockey player who is accepted to an academic, vocational or technical school for post-secondary studies.
All applicants must also obtain a 2.8 or higher GPA, provide two letters of reference, and most importantly, write an essay on the safety of teen driving.
Funds have been raised for this scholarship with a previously scheduled 1st annual “Always Happy” golf outing, as well as a weekend hockey tournament held at Hot Shots Indoor Sports Arena.
The “Always Happy” Scholarship will continue through the years as long as “fundraisers are successful and funds are available,” according to Debbi Walter, “B’s” mother.
Applications for the “Always Happy” scholarship can be picked up in the Southmoreland High School guidance office, as well as Hot Shots Indoor Sports Arena.
