Ms. Carrie Bisher has been a math teacher for eight years at both Southmoreland and Mount Pleasant Senior High school. Through those years she has strengthened her passion for teaching and the success of her students.

“Its interesting with student,” Said Bisher. “I love to see their improvements and when students finally comprehend a topic.”

Bisher has enjoyed her time at Southmoreland.

“I like it better here than at Mount Pleasant,” said Bisher. “ I like to get to know everyone.”

Her math career did not start as conventional. When she was younger she was not sure what she wanted to do. She had always been good at math and decided to pursue a career in teaching at Slippery Rock University.

She obtained a Bachelors degree in math and a Masters in education.

Many students see math as boring and tedious however Ms Bisher still loves math and teaching. It doesn’t get old for her.

“Some people make up their own math,” Said Bisher.  “But math changed with what people know and don’t know.”
