Shetterly, Klatt commit to play college softball
Captains of a WPIAL class 3A champion team, Maegan Shetterly and Lexi Klatt, both recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play college softball next year. Shetterly is planning on attending The College of Wooster in Ohio, while Klatt plans to attend Alderson Broaddus University in West Virginia.
“I’m very excited to attend Alderson Broaddus,” said Klatt. “I am coming on the team as a catcher and utility player. So, I can play any position they put me in, but I prefer to be behind the plate and catch.”
“I knew I was going to go there the moment I stepped on campus, it just felt right,” said Shetterly. “For softball I’m going in as an outfielder. I’ve played that position for almost six years now. I got my acceptance letter the same day I signed.”
The upcoming softball season is quickly approaching, and both Klatt and Shetterly are returning captains.
“My hope is we win states,” Shetterly said. “South Park is our biggest competition, but we know we have the potential to beat them.”
Southmoreland beat South Park last year to claim the WPIAL title.
Klatt plans on “pushing all of us to do our best even at practice and give 100 in everything we do.”
Both seniors are “very excited” for the upcoming season and are planning on working hard at practice with the rest of their teammates.
