Kjørlien scores first varsity points on senior night
The crowd roared and the seated members of the SHS varsity boys basketball team exploded from their seats screaming with excitement. And in all that excitement, one name could be heard. Odin.
On Feb. 10, senior foreign exchange student Odin Kjørlien scored his first varsity points.
“When I scored in varsity,” said Kjørlien, “I couldn’t believe it. I was like ‘Oh my! I did it actually!’”
While Kjørlien has played basketball leisurely in Norway, he has never played basketball as “systematically” as he did this year at Southmoreland. Kjørlien has come a long way from the beginning of the season and credits his progress to the support of his coaches and teammates.
“Odin has improved so much this season,” said senior Vinnie Keffer. “He’s such a great teammate and I’ve enjoyed watching and helping him learn the game of basketball this year.”
Kjørlien was thankful to end the regular season by scoring in varsity on Senior Night and for the experience of playing on Southmoreland’s boys basketball team.
“There’s so many great memories from basketball, but Senior Night is truly going to be my all time favorite,” said Kjørlien. “From making my first baskets that night to just being a part of something that big, it is something I won’t forget.”
