Girls tennis team loses to Indiana in first round of playoffs
The Southmoreland girls tennis team secured a spot in the playoffs with a 12-3 record., but the team lost 5-0 to end their season.
“Making playoffs was such a great feeling because our team has come a long way,” said senior Kaitlyn Walch. “We had a lot of close matches this season and seeing our team pull through those tough matches shows how hard we’ve worked this season.”
This season, the team has excelled at working together even though some girls compete individually. Numerous members of the team credited one of those individual competitors with the ability to motivate the team and lead the to this success. That individual is Walch.
“Kait has been a real motivation for the team,” said senior Elise Proch. “She’s currently undefeated this season and seeing her succeeding has really pushed everyone else to work hard and succeed as a team.”
Walch and Proch said they are both happy that they ended their senior season in the playoffs despite the loss.
