17 things you need to know before senior year…from the Class of 2017

In four years of high school, students learn a lot of valuable information, but senior year is when you learn the most. It is also the hardest year to prepare for. For these reasons, the Class of 2017 has formulated this list of the “Top 17 Things You Need To Know Before Senior Year” to help the Class of 2018 and other future graduating classes prepare for their senior year and succeed.

  1. Don’t let yourself fall behind. “Senioritis” is very real. And it’s more crippling than polio to your GPA
  2. Get involved in as much as you can from sports, to clubs, to volunteering, to going to sporting events. Don’t leave this school wishing you had done more!
  3. If you don’t want everyone to know about it, don’t do it.
  4. Apply for every scholarship you can (even the small ones) because every $100, $200, $500 adds up.
  5. Pick the days you skip school wisely…
  6. There’s nothing more entertaining than hearing drama about other people. There’s nothing more annoying than hearing it about yourself. AVOID DRAMA!
  7. Even if you think you won’t get accepted to college or receive a scholarship or win a contest, it doesn’t hurt to try. Go for it!
  8. Keep your stress to yourself. Everyone has it and nobody wants to hear you complain about it. (especially teachers)
  9. Don’t forget that your #1 goal is to GRADUATE.
  10. Don’t revolve your schedule and club memberships around your friends or you’ll never find out what you like.
  11. Your attendance is more important than the extra hour or two of sleep. Come to school.
  12. Stop trying to impress your peers and do what you want and be who you want. No one cares what you do in reality.
  13. Appreciate your family and everything they do for you because they’re trying to help you be successful and only want the best for you.
  14. FAFSA! FILL IT OUT ASAP!
  15. The only person guaranteed to have your back is yourself. You realize that when someone is stabbing a knife into it…
  16. Your teachers aren’t here just to teach you about the basic school subjects. They’re here to teach you about life too. So listen.
  17. If you have math first period, change your schedule. It will be the death of your GPA.
