After her many years of experience at Uniontown Area School District, Mrs. Tracey Kuchar has joined the Southmoreland staff as an Assistant Principal.
This comes after the news that Dr. Tawnia St. Amant accepted a position at Franklin Regional School District.
During the process to find a new assistant principal, principal Mr. Daniel Krofcheck says the district added another element to the interview.
“We asked staff and team leaders their opinions on each applicant,” Mr. Krofcheck said. “We all agreed Mrs. Kuchar was a good fit.”
After the interviews, the school board voted to hire Mrs. Kuchar, a Southmoreland alumnus.
“She has lots of good ideas we could bring to our school,” Mr. Krofcheck said. “She also has years of experience and is familiar with the community.”
Although she has lived within the Southmoreland community for years, Mrs. Kuchar would commute to her work in Uniontown. Now her route to work is a lot shorter.
“I decided to apply here because I live here and I graduated from here,” Mrs. Kuchar said Sept. 22, her first day at SHS. “My children go to Southmoreland as well, so I thought that I should return to this district.”
Although it is bittersweet to say goodbye to Dr. St. Amant, Mr. Krofcheck said that he is happy to see Mrs. Kuchar return to Southmoreland as an assistant principal.
“We’re very excited to see what she can bring to our school,” Mr. Krofcheck said.
