DSC_0170-Exposurew2dewe5reeAfter thinking their high school basketball careers had come to a close, two Southmoreland seniors, Tommy Pisula and Olivia Porter, have be given the opportunity to have one more high school basketball game at the Roundball Classic.

“It’s nice knowing I have one more high school game,” said Pisula. “I didn’t get to play my best and finish how I wanted to in our team’s last game.”

The Roundball Classic is one of the region’s premier high school basketball games that brings together the best high school basketball players in the area  before they players move on to the collegiate level.

“I was thrilled to find out I was invited to play in the Roundball Classic,” said Porter. “It means a lot to me for people to think of me as one of the best players in the WPIAL.”

Competitors in this “all star” game are selected from the six WPIAL classifications. Porter is one of 15 girls selected from the 4A classification, and Pisula is one of 14 boys selected from the 3A classification.

This year, the event will take place over two days, April 28 and 29, consisting of six games. As a member of the girls Class 5A/4A team, Porter will play on April 29 at 4 p.m. Pisula will also play on April 29 at 6 p.m. as a member of the boys Class 3A team. All of the games will be held at Geneva College.

Pisula and Porter are both excited for this final event of their high school basketball careers.

“I’m excited to play with such a talented group of athletes,” said Pisula. “But I’m even more excited to have this opportunity represent Southmoreland at the Roundball Classic.”
