Griffiths remains in state tournament; Mauro ousted

As day one of state competition comes to a close for both Southmoreland wrestlers, one remains in the race to seek state gold; the other has been eliminated.

IMG_4021Tyler Griffiths remains in the tournament as he defeated Colton Badcock of Benton to advance to the quarterfinal round that will take place today (March 10). Competition resumes Friday at 9 a.m.

As for Mauro, his journey and season came to a close after suffering two losses in both rounds. His first loss was to Cole Fuller of Western Wayne in a pin in just 16 seconds.He moved down to the losers bracket where he received a bye. His next match was against Hunter Post of Muncy, who pinned Mauro in 2 minutes and 58 seconds.
