Scotties to face Avonworth Saturday in first round of WPIAL playoffs
With an 18-4 record, the Southmoreland boys basketball team will take the court against Avonworth this Saturday for the first round of playoffs with a “go big or go home attitude.”
“For many of us it’s our last go ’round, so we’re all trying to make the best out of it,” said senior Tommy Pisula.
The team is excited to take on Avonworth at Peter’s Township at noon and possibly move on to the second round of the playoffs.
“We feel pretty good going into this game having one of the better records,” said senior Zak Leighty.
Leighty and Pisula have high hopes of making it further into the playoffs because it is their last chance. The team wants to progress for themselves and their seniors. Although the team practices together every day after school, individual players are putting in extra work on their own time.
“Everybody’s trying to work on the offense more in practice,” said Pisula. “You know every day of practice is so crucial because this next game could easily be your last.”
