Garstecki adds homecoming court to list of activities

Although Rachel Garstecki has over 35,000 YouTube subscribers and nearly 1,000 Instagram followers, she never expected to hear her name announced as a candidate for the crown.

Garstecki has “always had a full plate during and outside of school.” During her years at Southmoreland High School, Garstecki has participated in clubs such as Random Acts of Kindness, Reading Buddies, Youth Education Association, and Student Council.

Outside of school, Garstecki has become widely known by another name: “Rachaliah.”

For just over a year, Garstecki has been posting makeup tutorials on her YouTube channel where she refers to herself as “Rachaliah.” Her YouTube channel also feature her travels and clothing and hairstyles. Garstecki’s fans from YouTube flocked to her Instagram page where she shares her photography.

“I plan on making videos for as long as I can,” Garstecki said. “I love the recognition that YouTube gives me.”

Her YouTube career has given her a small taste of what her future holds for her. Garstecki plans to further her education at Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising for visual communication.

Garstecki is excited to be on the court with two of her closest friends, Keera Frye and Kaitlyn Walch.

“This experience has brought me closer to the girls on the court,” Garstecki said. “And I’m glad to be a part of it.”
