Hunter’s crossfit journey takes her to nationals

Camille Hunter’s decision to avidly work to improve in her new-found passion of crossfit has resulted in unique opportunities for her that she never before imagined. She went to Miami in December to compete in a national competition, Wodapoloza.

Hunter, a freshman, has been a competitive crossfit athlete for the last two years.

“I began crossfit to get better at cheerleading, but once I started crossfit and began to take it serious,” said Hunter, I” grew a passion for it resulting in me leaving cheerleading behind.”

“Competing with other teenagers my age was really cool, especially knowing that they love crossfit as much as I do,” said Hunter.

Hunter loved being around a community of people who all have a common passion and being able to share their love for the sport with each other. Hunter has also signed up for the 2016 Crossfit Open.

“I am doing really well and I am hoping to make it to the Top 10 in order to be able to move on to the Crossfit Games,” said Hunter.

Hunter is currently in her third week of competition out of five for the Crossfit Open.

The young crossfit enthusiast dedicates her entire life to bettering herself in the sport. Seven days a week she is in the gym pushing herself to become better.

“If I am not in the gym then I’m eating healthy, doing school work or with my family,” said Hunter.

Hunter has gained another “family” from her gym: her crossfit family. The crossfit members have greatly impacted her life and she is “extremely grateful” for them.

“They alone have changed my life dramatically,” said Hunter, “I don’t know where I would be without them.”

Hunter’s crossfit family surround her in and out of the gym. She is with them anytime she possibly can be and they encourage each other to push themselves harder so they can achieve their goals. Hunter has not reached a definite answer to making a career out of crossfit, but she is definitely considering the idea.

“If I win the Crossfit Games when I am older, I would open a gym and train people myself, but the future is still unplanned,” said Hunter.

Hunter is grateful for crossfit and the help it has given her throughout her fitness journey.

“I love crossfit and I plan to go as far with it as God will take me,” said Hunter.
