Cheerleaders perform at Disney Thanksgiving Parade

Southmoreland freshmen cheerleaders Lauryn Lubecki, Olivia Price, and Zoe Carson left the cold over Thanksgiving break for the Florida sunshine.
These girls worked long and hard to make the cut for this great experience. Over the summer, the squad brought in coaches from the Universal Cheerleading Association to score them. Lubecki, Price, and Carson were the only freshmen who scored well enough to make it to Disney.
“I was really excited when I found out I made it. I practiced the tryout dance this summer for hours. It was worth it though,” said Lubecki.
Price said, “Once my parents agreed to it, I was just really grateful to have the opportunity, and that we were able to go.”
The girls were sent a video of the routine they were told to learn for the parade.
“The dance wasn’t hard to learn. I just practiced it a lot because practice makes perfect, and I didn’t want to mess up during the parade,” said Price.
A fee was to be paid to cover the pom poms, uniform, and hotel room as a package.
“I was really excited when I got my uniform in the mail,” Carson said. “It was just hard to process that I was actually going to be in the parade.”
After the parade, all the families of the parade participants were invited to a Thanksgiving dinner at the hotel.
Lubecki said this dinner was “great” and she “doesn’t know how they made food for that many people.”
During the parade, the girls said they were “nervous about messing up in front of all those people but thankful to have this exciting opportunity.”
These long time friends call this experience an event they’ll never forget.
