Dine-in night

On Oct. 30th students put down their school books and homework and took three hours just to get away from it all. Girls got their hair done, guys suited up, and went off to take pictures before going to the Homecoming dance at Southmoreland High School. At the end of the night students took their escape from school a little further by joining their friends at Applebee’s for Southmoreland’s first ever Dine-In Night.

“Even though it was hard to come to school the next day after being out late, I’m still glad that I got to spend the night out with my friends,” said junior John Proud.

Inside the restaurant doors were packed with students in their homecoming attire waiting for their tables. Some sat in large groups with their friends while others just sat with their date. Either way the atmosphere filled with laughter as more and more people came through the doors. Comments were made from other customers like “Wow it must be their prom or something,” or “I wonder why everyone’s so dressed up?”

“I felt so over dressed to be in that kind of restaurant. It was so awkward,” said sophomore Kylie Diener. “But it was all worth it to be with my friends.”

Student Council members put flyers on the cars in the school parking lot before the dance was over to remind the students that fifteen percent of the profits made at Applebee’s that night would go to Student Council.

“We use the money for events like Bump It Up and a few other new events that we plan on doing this year like senior picnic, senior trip, and Battle of the Classes,” said Student Council member Jenna Roth.

Out of the $600 in sales that were made, Student Council received approximately $85.
